Eve Wagner is a founding partner of Sauer & Wagner LLP, a boutique civil litigation firm, established in 1997. Eve has extensive experience in federal and state courts and has handled numerous matters in alternative dispute resolution forums, including arbitrations and mediations. Eve has been involved in numerous high profile cases, several of which have been the subject of extensive print and television media coverage. Eve has also successfully handled a number of appellate matters. Eve’s practice focuses on matters involving employment, entertainment, intellectual property, business and real estate litigation.
Eve’s employment-related litigation experience includes representation of both employers and employees in a wide variety of industries. Eve has handled a broad range of employment litigation matters, including sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour (including class actions) and other related claims. In addition, Eve has utilized mediation to successfully settle several hotly contested employment disputes, including wage and hour class actions. Eve’s representation also includes counseling of clients with respect to various employment issues, including discipline and termination of employees, arbitration agreements, employee handbooks and compliance with state and federal employment laws.
Eve’s entertainment/intellectual property litigation experience has involved a broad range of matters, including claims for copyright and trademark infringement, right of publicity violations, unfair competition, trade libel, defamation, and other related claims which frequently arise in the music and motion picture industries, as well as the toy and clothing industries. For over ten years, Eve handled a broad range of matters for Michael Jackson, including three trials for copyright infringement, all of which resulted in verdicts in favor of Mr. Jackson and the other defendants. Eve also obtained summary judgment on behalf of major motion picture studios in matter involving the highly successful motion pictures “Batman” and “Amistad.” Eve also successfully handled an appeal involving the motion picture My Best Friend’s Wedding.
Eve’s business and real estate litigation experience has involved representation of developers, lenders, borrowers, landlords, tenants, partners and individuals in a wide variety of matters. Such matters include complex disputes involving claims for breach of contract, fraud, specific performance, breach of fiduciary duty, intentional interference with contractual relationships and prospective economic advantage, unfair competition, partnership and shareholder disputes and other related claims. In a partnership dispute involving a well-known public figure, Eve’s aggressive discovery tactics resulted in a multi-million dollar settlement for her client in the early stages of the lawsuit. Eve’s representation of a high ranking executive in a nationally publicized securities fraud case in the savings and loan industry enabled her client to obtain a favorable settlement. Eve also obtained a large jury verdict in a hotly contested securities fraud case.
