Amir Torkamani has been an associate with S&W since 2012. Amir has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state court matters in a wide variety of disputes, including claims involving unfair business practices, fraud, breach of fiduciary duties, breach of contract, fair debt collection practices, nuisance, violation of the California Corporations Code, failure to pay real estate commissions and various other statutory violations. During his time at S&W, Amir has vastly expanded his expertise as a result of serving in a “second chair” role at both jury and bench trials, drafting numerous motions and briefs and strategizing on how to “win” the case. Amir has significant experience in arguing motions in court, defending and taking depositions, and preparing a case for trial.
Prior to joining S&W, Amir was an associate in the business litigation group for a national law firm, where he represented numerous Fortune 500 companies, and assisted in obtaining a defense verdict in federal court on behalf of an international energy company. Amir also worked as an associate in the financial services litigation group at another national law firm and defended numerous international banks against a variety of finance-related claims, including obtaining a defense verdict on behalf of a large Spanish bank against claims for wrongful debt collection practices.
